Corn productivity and soil characteristic alterations following transition from conventional to conservation tillage

چکیده

Compared to conventional tillage (CT) system (e.g. moldboard plowing (Moldboard-CT) and chisel (Chisel-CT)) adoption rate of conservation systems no-till (NT) strip-till (ST)) in surface- irrigated farms is considerably low. A three-year field study was conducted evaluate corn (Zea mays L) productivity four ranging intensity soil disturbance (i.e. Moldboard-CT, Chisel-CT, ST, NT) a furrow-irrigated field. Averaged over three years, grain yield higher Moldboard-CT (2.9 Mg ha−1) NT (12.1 than yields Chisel-CT (10.9 ST (10.3 ha−1). Tillage did not affect pH, EC, total organic carbon (TOC), dissolved (DOC) 0–15 depths under compared with Moldboard-CT. No significant differences were found between terms saturated hydraulic conductivity (Kfs) bulk density, yet available water capacity (AWC) the wet aggregate stability positively affected by adopting reduced tillage. Economic analysis showed that Return on Investment (ROI) greater (0.93) CT (0.88), although net return from $44 ha−1 NT. The small difference NT, along positive trend observed properties as result shifting indicates potential improve production sustainability surface-irrigated agroecosystems mid- long-term.

Conservation Tillage Corn and Forage Crops

Several reduced, or conservation tillage (CT) approaches are currently being evaluated in Central Valley forage production systems. In theory, these practices reduce costs and minimize the time needed to go from one crop to the next. Recent single-year trials with dairy forage producers in Stanislaus and Tulare Counties have evaluated the potential of several CT systems and have identified a nu...

Principal Component Analysis for Soil Conservation Tillage vs Conventional Tillage in Semi Arid Region of Punjab Province of Pakistan

Principal component analysis is a valid method used for data compression and information extraction in a given set of experiments. It is a well-known classical data analysis technique. There are a number of algorithms for solving the problems, some scaling better than others. Wheat ranks as the staple food of most of the nations as well as an agent of poverty reduction, food security and world ...

the effect of conventional and conservation tillage on forage corn yield in a barley-corn rotation

high intensity evaporation from the soil surface due to low air humidity and poor soil structure and organic matter are constraints of agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions of iran. regionally, maintaining plant residue with tillage management is one method to improve these conditions. in this study, for a barley-corn rotation, four barley residue management methods for standing stubble (bu...

Corn production and plant characteristics response to N fertilization management in dry-land conventional tillage system

Nitrogen (N) application management needs to be refined for low yielding environments under dryland conditions. This 3-yr study examined nitrogen fertilization management effects on corn (Zea mays L.) plant characteristics and grain yield in rain fed environment under conventional tillage system. Nitrogen fertilization management consisted of two timing methods of N application [all N at planti...

Comparison of Surface Water Quality and Yields from Organically and Conventionally Produced Sweet Corn Plots with Conservation and Conventional Tillage.

Organic agricultural systems are often assumed to be more sustainable than conventional farming, yet there has been little work comparing surface water quality from organic and conventional production, especially under the same cropping sequence. Our objective was to compare nutrient and sediment losses, as well as sweet corn ( L. var. ) yield, from organic and conventional production with conv...
